Dear all,
The Vancouver Bioinformatics Users Group is hosting a holiday party with lightning talks and free food/drinks afterwards.
Date: Friday Dec 12th, 2014
Time: 5pm – 9pm (schedule below)
Place: BC Cancer Research Center at 675 West 10th Avenue, Vancouver
For More information: http://www.vanbug.org/2014/vanbug-2014-holiday-party/
Lightning talks: We are inviting members of the Vancouver bioinformatics community to give max. 3 minute lightning talks of a non-commercial nature about their research or development work. There will be cash prizes for the best talks as voted by the audience ($60 / $30 / $20 for first / second / third places). The goal is to encourage an exchange of ideas and foster collaboration among community members.
To register for the lightning talks, please go to http://www.vanbug.org/2014/vanbug-2014-holiday-party/. All that is needed for now is a title and a max. 30-word abstract. Spaces are limited! The deadline for registration is 10 December 2014. We will contact you after the registration deadline for additional logistics.
Holiday Social: Immediately following the talks at 6:30pm, the VanBUG will host a holiday party with free food (not just pizza) and drinks (all drinks will be free). RSVP required so we can estimate the amount of food. VanBUG events are open to all so please invite your non-bioinformatics friends who may be interested in bioinformatic collaborations to join us! Please RSVP by Dec 10th at http://www.vanbug.org/2014/vanbug-2014-holiday-party/. It’s a great opportunity to hangout with your bioinformatics buddies and meet new people.
Schedule for the Night:
5:00: Lightning talk speakers to provide slides for loading on the presentation computer
5:30: Lightning talk session
6:30: Food and drinks
